insta georgian bay

I'm not an outdoors kind of girl. I do not understand how sleeping on a half blown-up air mattress on a dirt ground is enjoyable. When anyone invites me to go "up north" I always find an excuse so I don't seem like a snob for backing out. Than this past weekend I saw the glamours side of going "up north" and my perspectives all changed. I was first introduced to this luxury Georgian Bay cottage when I received an email from my good friend saying "...hey want to come to my friend's cottage..." and a link to the website for the cottage. As I was reading the email I started composing excuses in my head of how I can back out. But once I checked out the link and I saw the pictures my jaw dropped. The 20 archer property was accompanied by a private beach and a breath-taking view. I have to say that it was even more beautiful in person...I have ever felt paradise so close to home.

outfit of the day Miranda Kerr

Print on print dressing is not an easy trend to master. If the colors that are chosen for your prints do not follow the laws of primary color, than you look like a clown in your outfit. On the other hand, if you choose a print that is disproportionate in size than you may looking heavy in your outfit. All of these things run rapidly through my head every time I try to mimic this trend. So my solution has always been to stick to the same print and color from top to bottom, as you have seen me wearing it here. But recently when I saw this outfit on Miranda I realized that its a simple formula and not brain surgery! All you have to do is take 2 very similar prints and/or shapes in colors that are in the same tones and voila you have this great outfit. And when you are wearing something bold you always need to pair it with nude accessories to pull the whole look together. Great Job Mrs. Kerr!

photo shoot outfit

Last week on Wednesday we did some product shoots for JOLIE and this was my outfit from behind the scenes.
P.S. Not a very smart idea on my part to wear a skirt on set. Well I guess lesson learned, some times its better to be practical.

Outfit: Bodysuit (Wolford), Skirt (ASOS), Belt (Vintage), Sandals (Browns), Earrings (Tuleste Market

prim things- june

June is the beginning of summer and we are all trying to look fit for  those tiny bikinis. Working out and eating right is the best way to accomplish those goals. That means no chocolate milk shakes to accompany those hamburgers and fries; maybe just a delicious protein shake instead. Try this chocolate protein shake recipe by Mary of iblogbeauty.com...it is extremely addictive!

This month the boy and I finally decided on a location for our engagement party...isn't the place beautiful? It was the first location our event planner showed us and we both loved it. Fingers crossed that the rest of the planning will be this easy.

This weekend I had the privilege to end my month off at one of the most amazing cottages I have ever been too. This luxury cottage had everything you can imagine; including its own private beach. My favourite moment was chilling on the main deck and doing nothing (as seen in this picture taken by Miss Christina of Material Archive). More pictures from this weekend to come...

pimp eats- old fashion carrot cake

This past fathers day the boy and I had a little bbq for his father. Instead of buying a cake I decided to make my soon to be father-in-law his favorite type of cake; the carrot cake. I have to say it turned out very delicious but not very pretty. My icing was a disaster so I went out and bought the Betty Crocker butter cream icing instead. Hope you guys try this very simple recipe out.

Old Fashion Carrot Cake
Ingredients

  • 1 pound (about 4 large carrots) carrots
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioner sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups grapeseed oil
  • 4 eggs

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 C, and grease a 9 by 13 inch pan with cooking spray.
  2. Grate the carrots with a food processor or a grater by hand (that is what I do and it makes me feel like I'm getting a little work out). Make sure that its a medium grate, so its not to fine that it dissolves into the batter.
  3. Mix together in a large bowl; the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, confectioner sugar and brown sugar. Than stir in the oil and the eggs. Once everything is mixed together add in the carrots.
  4. Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
  5. Once baked cool overnight than spread on the butter cream frosting.

outfit of the day

During this time of the year the weather is always unpredictable and this is a perfect look for a transitional outfit. Usually in the morning when I am travelling to the office the weather is always cold and I always need something to keep me warm. Than in the afternoons it gets so hot and humid that I need to strip off my layers. Finding an outfit that can stand up to such weather changes, and still look proper at the office is not so easy. This look however, serves all of my needs; as the blazer keeps me warm in the morning and the dress keeps me cool and looking chic in the afternoon.

papa bear's day

Father's day is one of those holidays that really makes me emotional, as I lost my father 5 years ago. Every year I think it gets better but it doesn't. As my life evolves it gets harder and harder when I don't have my father around to share my special moments with. This is especially true when it comes to my upcoming nuptials; I long for my father to be walking me down the aisle. However I know that he is with me in spirit at every moment; even those moments when I am just chilling on the couch. I had a wonderful father and those moments we shared will always be in my heart and never forgotten.
For all of the fathers out there I wish you a Happy Father's Day

Ann Taylor Preview Party at The Carlu

Wednesday night Deb and I attended the Ann Taylor Fall Preview Event for Canada; at The Carlu. It seems like more and more retailers are crossing the boarder to our neck of the woods and opening shop. Those days of us Canadians traveling to the U.S. to go shopping seems like its going to be less popular venture. I am excited that Ann Taylor is one of the U.S. retailers that has decided to open their doors in Toronto this Fall. I have always been a fan of  their clothing; as they are able to keep the clothes fashion forward and corporate ready. Their clothes is timeless and has no age limitations. Its one of those outfits that can take you from day to night, worn by a stay at home mommy or a young professional. So ladies get your wallets ready for some Fall shopping at Ann Taylor; opening at Yorkdale and Eaton Centre this Fall 2012.

Deb and I during the event choose some staples for Fall from the Ann Taylor Collection. Deb picked this black tweed dress for Fall because she deemed it a great piece to layer with. Pair this dress with a great white crisp underneath or turn up this simple dress with a colorful cropped jacket. I on the other hand fell in love with these beige coats. I couldn't choose which one I liked better, but I think that either one should be a staple. I love the look of a light colored coat paired with a bright color blouse and straight legged lace detailed pant.

This was my favorite look from the launch party

Cynthia (PR for Ann Taylor) and I

This was the outfit hiding under my vest. Thought I would share this look with you and my obsession of the bralette trend. I decided to add the vest on for the event so I wouldn't be so bare, and to give the entire outfit  a touch of elegance.

Outfit:  Vest (Theory), Bralette (H&M), Skirt (Zara), Shoes (Cole Hann), Purse (Chanel)

Bahamas- day 3ish

So as the vacation went on I got lazier and lazier to take pictures; that is why this post is called "Bahamas day 3ish", because these are my last outfit posts for our trip. They were taken at the One and Only Resort where we went for brunch at the Dunes. The resort had the most amazing garden filled with beautiful statues and green plants (FYI this is where they filmed the Casino Royal scene where Daniel Craig walked out of the ocean with his perfect body...yummmm!).
The dress is an old H&M dress that I finally got to wear out (an oldie but a goodie). Through out the trip we deemed this dress as a curse, because every time I had it on something would happen and our original plans would have to be put on the back burner and do something less exciting. Guess I finally broke the curse; I was very determined to show it off ;)

Outfit: Dress (H&M), Sandals (Dolce Vita), Hat (La Vie En Rose), Sunglasses (Chole)
