a lil bit of old, a lil bit of new and a lot of cool

I love finding old treasures, especially when it is unexpected. I was at my moms over the holidays and went through my old closet and found this old plaid pea coat. As you can see by me showing it off I was extremely happy, that I can now incorporate this great piece into my current closet (and that I still am able to fit into it). Anything old can be made new again by incorporating it with some great up to date accessories.

xmas outfit

My Xmas dinner outfit was a modern sophisticated look. It was a combination of classy with the Michael Kors jacket (from their holiday collection) and the addition of new age details from this ADAM shirt (where all of the clear glass beads were hand sewn). Here's my outfit; what was your xmas dinner look?

prim things- december

December is all about being cozy in front of a fire (or the radiator if you live in a condo like me) with your loved ones sharing stories about the past year. What better way to make those moments even better than to add a cup of hot chocolate to the mix. Here is a hot chocolate (lavender hot chocolate) recipe that I am bubbling about this month! 

It wouldn't be Xmas without any snow, so I am hoping its going to be a white Xmas this year.

This month I decided to start a new holiday tradition by baking everyone Xmas cookies. Well at least I thought it was a good idea until I started to set off the fire alarm in my flat. I was able to bake 100 cookies until my back gave out and I got bored. Next year I won't be so ambitious and only stick to baking sugar cookies.

last night in paradise

Just wanted to post some pics of my outfit from our last dinner in Barbados. This silk one piece was perfectly suited for the atmosphere and weather. I love wearing silk in hot climates because it doesn't stick to your skin; plus the structure of this piece was loose in all the right places to keep me looking structured rather than frumpy. 

Besides still dreaming about Barbados, I am dying in bed with the flu. I have been taken prisoner by my own bed as I can't even keep my head up. Can't believe I am sick 5 days before Christmas, especially when I have  so many things still to accomplish. I'm also sad that I have to miss my family's Hanukkah dinner tonight as well. Nothing I can do but to look on the bright side of hopefully recovering by tomorrow.

come visit my cabana

As promised here are some pictures from the west side of the island from my trip to Barbados. I have to give a big shout out to the Fairmont Royal Pavilion for providing us with the most amazing stay ever. We loved our daily afternoon tea, and 6pm room service of an arrangement of amuse bouches with assortment of wines. Still can't get come back to reality!

staircase to paradise

In our suite there was this staircase which lead to a private roof top patio...when I first saw it I jumped to the chance to run up the stairs and unlock the door (my gf tried to tell me that it was haunted but I didn't care as I was in paradise...fyi it wasn't haunted). The next day I took the opportunity to use it as my background for my photos. I forgot how great it was not to wear so many layers of clothing, but it also meant I couldn't layer lots of jewellery because the heat made it unbearably sticky. So I stuck to pimping my outfit up with this rose gold cuff. 

My weekend is going to be filled with a lot of running around for the holidays...hope everyone enjoys their wknd!

welcome to Barbados

Sorry for non-posting the past week, but if you follow me on twitter you would see that I have been submerged in the beauty of Barbados. My first time there and would go back in an heartbeat! We split our trip between the island and was able to enjoy and see all of the beaches surrounding it. We began our vacation on the east side of the island and stayed at the penthouse suite at The Crane Resort. The resort had one of the best beaches ever, however the rooms could have been a little more updated. More pictures from the vacay to come....stay tuned!

Happy Monday...well not really when you are sick in bed! Oh well I just hope that I can nurse myself back to health for Friday cause I will be off too Barbados for some R&R :)
