colourful winter

Its almost December and we still haven't had any snow yet! Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining but I would love to see some snowflakes for Xmas and on the slopes. This year my winter fun wardrobe consists of colour and playfulness to combat the cold.

how to shine during the day

I love wearing glitter in the fall and winter seasons; especially during the day as it lifts off my seasonal depression because it brightens everything around me. But sometimes if you don't wear it right you may look like a crazy. My tips on a full proof day time sparkling outfit consists of three steps; 1. Match a sparkling skirt or blazer with settle prints like plaid or pinstripes, 2. When styling the outfit think of chunky accessories like a big knit scarf or flat boots for a casual or classy look; rather than a sexy look. 3. Keep the make-up simple and sweet; tinted moisturiser and some lip gloss is the best combination.

To all my American readers hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed lots of yummy turkey!

the cocoon coat

This coat is my most prized piece of clothing, because it was designed and made by my late father for my mother. So even before the cocoon coat trend was populated for this Fall I was already prepared thanks to my stylish parents. The rest of the outfit is from Joe Fresh. I recently took a trip to his first store (outside of Loblaws) in Toronto and found many items that I saw at his F/W 2011 runway show that I had to have. My fav are the gold jeans...aren't they so bling?

Outfit: Coat (Vintage), Sweater, Turtleneck and Jeans (Joe Fresh), Shoes (Miu Miu), Sunglasses (Chloe)

prim things- november

This month my three prim things consists of:

1. Finding a way to organize my massive and quickly expanding shoe collection. This may sound like an easy task but when you live in a small space, and have a bf that is fed up with the way you have encroached on all of the living room for your shoes you have to get creative; so these chic storage ideas are very useful. Now my shoes can be apart of the decor.

2. The Lomography Cameras has been popping up everywhere. I visited their photo shop this month in Toronto and got to test out all of their products. My fav was the Caviar camera; not only is it uber cute in the style and shape, it also takes very cool pictures.

3. Staying healthy this month has been a priority for me, as I am trying to prepare myself for next months big holiday celebrations. Preparation includes no coffee for 3 weeks and replaced with lots of water and white tea. The London Tea Company has one of the best white teas ever. I drink white tea when I have to cut out caffeine because it gives me the boost of energy like a cup of coffee. White tea has many benefits from helping with weight loss to giving you better skin. I also cut out sugar from my diet for the 3 weeks, and in order to help me fight my sweet tooth cravings I treat myself to Chimes. Chimes is a chewy ginger candy made with all natural ingredients, and the main ingredient (ginger) is very important to have in your diet in the winter to prevent you from getting the cold or flu. These 2 items are always in my cleanse kit.

colonel sanders

Recently I have been really obsessed with buttoning my shirt to the collar and adding some sort of neck tie, pin or necklace seen herehere, and here. This look was put together from that same inspiration, and it all started with a simple black ribbon (that I got off a package). I know I look a lil like Colonel Sanders (hence my title for this post), as I was know as that all night when I wore this outfit to attend our dear friend's baby christening this pass weekend.

Outfit: Fur Shaw (bought in China), Blazer and Blouse (Zara), Skirt (vintage),
Shoes (Miu Miu), Purse (Chanel), Watch (Cartier)

inductions

Just taking a break from an intense beginning of the week, so I can share some new things that I added in to my closet recently. Every winter I always update my coat collection...its very necessary to have many options when you live in a country that is cold 60% of the year. When I started my search in back October I tried to figure out what I lacked in my collection and in the sprite of this winters trends I decided to go with a bright colour. Than I first saw this Diane von Furstenberg Mikhaila Jacket, I knew I had to get my hands on it. But after weeks of searching for this particular jacket online it slowly dawned on me that I could not obtain this new obsession of mine as it was all sold out of my size. Just as I was going to give up I walked in to Intermix one day to look for some sweaters and once I walked into the store I saw from the corner of my eyes something red screaming at me. As I slowly turned my head I saw the Mikhaila on the manikin, and of course they had my size! Since I was in an extremely happy mood I continued shopping; which lead me to these amazing Michael Kors Rock n Roll sandals from their holiday collection. I am usually not a strappy sandals kind of girl, because I find that style of shoes are too cute and not supportive enough for my skinny ankles. But these ones have a very edge look to them and the straps are thick enough for comfort and support.
Hope everyone is having a great Monday...going back to work :)

Africa Comes Alive Event/ Cascata Blu Fashion Show

Yesterday I attended a gala benefiting the needs and raising awareness of Africa through World Vision; hosted by Magna CEO Don Walker and wife Joan Kelley. They brought out Toronto's social scene from fashionistas to celebrities. The event was MC by my fav Canadian comedian Jessica Holmes (she does a mean Celine Dion impression...its sooo funny, you have to watch it!). Later on in the night a fashion show from Cascata Blu (another one of my fav Canadians; who designs amazing swimwear) with a collection of African inspired jewellery from different Canadian jewellery designers, which was later auctioned off after the show. It was a fun night and great event!

Outfit: Jacket (Religion), Skirt (Zara), Hat (Big It Up), Shoes (Stuart Wietzman), Purse (Chanel)

Miss Bugs, next generation of street art

For many of you that know me know that I love POP Art; from Andy Warhol to Richard Hamilton. When I was living in London I feel in love with a street artist named Banksy, and he fueled my obsession of this art form even more. I remember when Banksy's work was showing up in Toronto I went on a hunt for it...check it out here. But now I want to share a female and male duo that has taken the idea of street art to another level. Their name is Miss Bugs also from London and this is their art...The cut outs are my favorite! At first glance it looks like the art piece is painted onto the surface but when you look closely its actually a cut out placed in front of the scene. Amazing!

dazed and confused

For does of you who don't have better things to do than to sit around and talk about other people...beware of something called karma. What goes around does come around!!! Slander is a crime and you will be punished! You know who you are and don't act like you know it all when I come for you!
