how to wear a cape

The cape is the must have fall trend this year (and also rated one of my most fav things this month, as seen here). The new updated capes are not like the ones that our mom's use to wear; where they couldn't even move their arms or have a place to hold a purse. The  new age capes gives you the accessibility to do a lot more than the styles from the 70's. I paired my cape with this drivers cap (another important trended for Fall populated by Louis Vuitton) and kept it simple with pieces that are formfitting. Remember that not to wear something bulky under a cape, because it can make you look bigger than you are as the cape already has a wide shape to its structure. And lastly I added some leather gloves to give the whole look a little edge.

Happy Halloween to Everyone! Trick or Treat...

a night out with Tana...

This past Wednesday I attended the relaunch party for the TANA shoe care line. Keeping your shoes protected and clean is very important as it gives your shoes longevity. This is especially important when you live in cold climates. The TANA protector is one of my essential products for any shoes, as it protects the shoes from most forms of damages. Check out the rest of my fav products above and here
Since it was a shoe event it was only appropriate for me to wear my coolest pair of shoes; for this event I decided to go with these vintage boots. These boots were purchased at a Paris flea market a couple of years ago.

Outfit: Coat (Loeffler Randall), T-shirt (Gap), Leather Shorts (Topshop), Tights (House of Holland), Shoes (Vintage), Clutch (American Apparel)

the end to the split ends

I am always curling my hair, probably almost every other day. A lot of people don't understand why I do i,t cause they are always praising me for my long straight Asian hair. To tell you the truth I hate my straight hair sans I kill my hair with heat all the time. Before I started using the Nexxus Pro-Mend Styling Spray my hair was dry and had a lot of spit ends. In the beginning I didn't see a difference, but after a few weeks I felt that the ends of my hair started mending together and not as course as before. On a scale of 5 chic; I give the Nexxus Heat Protection Styling Spray 3 chic.

colourful androgyny

Its been a rainy week and I don't think its going to stop...either way I had to start pulling out the fur cause its getting cold outside. I absolutely love this fur vest, because it was given to me by bff Robyn for my bday...how luxurious is it...so gorge! Also adding bright colours to my outfits during days when the sun never comes out puts a smile on my face.
Happy Hump Day Everyone!

prim things- october

This month I have not been able to get Grace Potter's song (Paris) out of my head...I think I first heard it at an event and from there I fell in love with it instantly.

I have been looking to re do my home office for almost a year now (well since I moved into my new place). Now with my new business moving forward I am forced to do so; as I am out of space. So this month I have wrapped myself in researching for the best interior designs. I love the Who What Wear headquarters; clean, simple and with a splash of personality.

When October comes around we are all aware of the changing colours of the leaves and we know that Fall is here. This month I have been hunting for the perfect cape to keep me warm...and these are some of my favs.

LGFW day 3...last day for me...

Last night was a great line up of shows, and even though the rain came pouring down it did not stop a packed house for Pink Tarten and Joe Fresh. Sadly yesterday was my last day of fashion week as this weather has got the best of me and I am now sick :( For my last night I wore this outfit; first inspired by a post I did a few weeks ago on my new obsession of the varsity jackets. Secondly to celebrate Canadian designs for Toronto fashion week with the popular retailer Roots.

Outfit: Jacket (Roots), Dress (Zara), Shoes (Christian Louboutin), Purse (Stella McCartney)

LGFW Day 2

Okay ladies and gents I have finally learnt my lesson...I will always carry a spare battery pack for my camera. I was extremely upset last night when I was about to start taking pictures my lovely camera decides to die on me...this meant that I was only able to take one picture of my new favorite dress (which I also wore here last month in New York, and even than I didn't get great pictures of this dress; its like the dress just doesn't want to be shown off). Luckily I had my lovely ladies to keep me entertained the rest of the night. Tonight is the 3rd night and I have my camera fully charged. I am super excited to see the Pink Tarten show!

Outfit: Dress (Jill Stuart), Scarf (Gifted), Shoes (Miu Miu), Watch (Michael Kors), Purse (Stella McCartney), Earrings (Vintage Chanel)

LG Fashion Week Toronto S/S Day 1

Last night was the kick off of Toronto Fashion week. I think all of fahionable Toronto was out getting into the mood to see what our talented designers would be parading down the runways. Hands down the best collection of the night was Arthur Mendonca's; the lady like shapes from structured pieces to flowing sexy dresses was all the rage. Check out the pics from his show last night here. Oh and of course Juma put on a great show (except for the men's wear)...can you spot me at the show?
I tired to wear the most comfortable outfit I could put together, as we were extremely late last night...so late that we missed the Holt Renfrew presentation (boo). So I ended up wearing some of my DIY items; like this skirt which I made over the summer when I was totally obsessed with the mermaid tail hem line. And this jacket which was last seen worn here.

Outfit: Leather Jacket (Danier/DIY), T-shirt (Silence and Noise), Skirt (DIY), Shoes (Top Shop), Belt (Forever21), Purse (Michael Kors Collection), Watch (Cartier)

5 Layer Bar

So this is my first attempt at a recipe post, and I decided to start off with my very easy and super delicious 5 layer bar.

Ingredients:
1 stick unsalted butter
2 sleeves graham crackers (crushed)
1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/4 cups sweetened condensed milk (you can also use Fat Free condensed milk to be a little figure friendly)
2 cups pecans (coarsely chopped)
Parchment paper

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 F.
1. Lightly butter your casserole dish and line it with parchment paper to allow enough to hang over the dish.
{TIP: its much easier to assemble the layers if all of the ingredients are pre measured and set aside}
2. Combine butter and graham crackers and combine well, than pat down the mixture evenly to form the crust
3. Sprinkle the coconut evenly over the crust
4. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the coconut
5. Pour the condensed milk evenly over the chocolate chips
6. Sprinkle the pecans evenly over the condensed milk, and press the layers down lightly
Put it in the oven and bake until lightly browned, around 30 minutes. Than set aside and let it cool to room temperature and cut and serve. It goes very well with a latte...enjoy!

the art of layering

Fall is upon us and layering is the best way to stay warm and fashionable. Here are some tips in creating the perfect full proof layered look. It starts with picking out your basic piece; like a long tee or a button up shirt (like my Jean shirt). Than pick a shorter piece (like a sweater or a button down cardigan) to go over the longer layer so there is exposure of the inner layer (its important that all of the pieces in your layered outfit can be seen). If the weather is a little colder than a great tench or boyfriend blazer would elevate the look even more.

Outfit: Sweater (Forever 21), Shirt (Joe Fresh), Jeans (Zara), Belt (Hermes), Shoes (Zara), Necklace (Kenneth Jay Lane)
